In the year 1859 Mr & Mrs. Robert Silliman move to Blanco from Pennsylvania. Immediately Mrs. Silliman began to organize a Baptist Church. The Church was constituted on Sunday, November 6, 1859 with five members. It was known as Missionary Baptist affiliated with Austin Association. In 1879 it became a part of the Pedernales Association. In the early 1900’s. In 1949 the First Baptist Church was built and an educational wing was added in 1951. This Church is directly across from the Church of Christ on 281. On February 9, 1975 ground was broken to begin construction of a new church on 1623 it was dedicated on September 14, 1975.
