The first school was built in 1884 on 10 acres of land that R.C. Traweek donated to Blanco High School Board of Trustees. The new school building was a two story built of limestone rock with one room on each floor.
Dr. W.H. Bruce was the principal and, on the first day of school, 103 pupils greeted him. The enrollment grew from 103 in 1884 to 255 in 1892-93. In December of 1893 the school burned. In 1894 the school purchased the Blanco Courthouse, abandoned when the county seat moved to Johnson City, and held school there until 1901.
In 1901 a new school building was erected where the first school building had stood. This building still serves the school district well. It has been remodeled three times to accommodate the growing needs of the school district.
